Stargazing

The sky is so consistently clear over Kohala that even in mid-morning, the moon can still be seen hanging over the ocean. Stargazing is one of the most popular activities available at Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel. A high-powered telescope is set up for you to view the Hawaiian skies with the guidance of professional astronomers.

Water Sports

In addition to the heated freshwater pool and poolside whirlpool at the resort, guests can enjoy the white sands of Hapuna Beach. Frequently ranked among America's best beaches, by Conde Nast Traveler, Hapuna Beach is a long stretch of pristine white sand. There is also a little cove nearby where the waters are sheltered and clear. On any given day, giant sea turtles may drop in for a visit. Otherwise, it's the perfect place for swimmers and snorkelers to explore at their leisure.

Kid's Programs (Seasonal)

Ages 5 to 12 years old

Mauna Kea Resort offers younger guests a "cool" place to enjoy days of fun under the sun. While you relax by the pools or beaches, or play a challenging game of golf at the renowned Mauna Kea or Hapuna golf courses, your children can have hours of fun with our Prince Keiki Club offering a wide variety of activities including:

  • Hawaiian arts and crafts
  • Sandcastle building
  • Hula dancing
  • T-shirt painting
  • Beach treasure/scavenger hunts
  • Movies

Program Details

Full Day Program

  • $90 per child per day
  • Includes lunch
  • 9am - 4pm daily

We also offer a Half Day Program; please call the hotel for rates. As our Kid's Programs are not offered year round, please contact the hotel for current schedule and availability. 

Welcome Amenity for Kids

Whether they sign up for the Keiki Club or not, children who stay at Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel receive a special gift bag at check-in, with age-appropriate amenities:

  • Children ages 0-3 years: rubber duckies and story book
  • Children ages 4-7 years: Hide & Seek in Hawaii picture game book and beach ball
  • Children ages 8-12 years: playing cards and Hawaiian word book

Helicopter Tours

Mauna Kea Resort is the only Kohala resort with its own helipad on property. Sunshine Helicopters owns and operates a fleet of six "Black Beauties" equipped with five video cameras and are also cushioned, making them virtually soundproof for comfort. Activity desks at both hotels make sign up easy whether you want to see Kilauea Volcano to the South or the lush valleys to the East and everything in between. Private charters are available.
